Mrs. Vernell Smith Atkinson, 83, 782 Vause Rd., Clarkton, NC died Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Fayetteville, NC. 
 

Survivors- three sons, Alphonso Atkinson(Gwen) of Greensboro, NC, James Atkinson Jr.(Shirley) of Dayton, Ohio and Avery Atkinson of Charlotte, NC, two daughters, Phyllis McDonald of Charlotte, NC and Ann Atkinson-Bedford( Nolan) of Mt. Rainier, MD, two brothers, Ronnie Smith(Diane) of Brooklyn, NY and Lee Smith of New Jersey , three sisters, Marie Liles(Abram) of Oxford, NC, Van Smith of Bronx, NY and Ethel Johnson of Charlotte, NC, 4 grandchildren, one great-grandson, a host of relatives and friends. 
 

Funeral- Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 12:00pm at Willie E. Johnson Memorial Chapel on the facility of Johnson’s Funeral Service, 207 S. Pine St., Elizabethtown, NC. Eulogy by Rev. Dr. Donald Ray Perkins, Pastor of Whites Creek Missionary Baptist Church Clarkton, NC. 
 

Burial- White’s Creek Church Cemetery, 6838 Airport Rd., Clarkton, NC.
