Mrs. Doris Atkinson, 71, of 30 Marlin Ln., Smithfield, NC formerly of Council, NC, died December 10, 2021 at WakeMed Health in Raleigh, NC.

Visitation: 2050 Allen Priest Rd., Council, NC

Viewing: Thursday, December 16, 2021, 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Willie E. Johnson's Memorial Chapel

Funeral: Thursday, December 16, 1:00pm at Willie E. Johnson's Memorial Chapel and eulogy by Rev. Dr. Gonzales L. Harris of Walter's Chapel AME Zion Church in Bolton, NC

Burial: Carver's Creek Cemetery in Council, NC

She is survived by: daughter and son, Nikki Atkinson and Alfred Atkinson of Clayton, NC; seven grandchildren, Jerrico Atkinson, Devine Singleton, Roy'al Atkinson, Ishmael Atkinson, Shani Atkinson, Kayla Atkinson and Alyssa Atkinson; seven great-grandchildren; sister and brother, Carolyn McClendon Hicks and Richard McClendon of Council, NC and special friend, Cynthia Stell.
